Starhurst Secondary School : Dorking
A major £4.5m project for a residential secondary school for boys with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The project features extensive re-ordering and refurbishment of the existing buildings, including the conversion of a large Victorian house to provide new residential facilities for the boys. The teaching areas have been radically re-ordered and extended, with the inclusion of a state-of-the-art music and drama suite. A new sports hall, changing facilities, dining room and servery are also included.
cfp have been involved from the very beginning of the project, from the brief formulation and feasibility stages, and the scheme was subject to a lengthy and very rewarding consultation process with school staff, governors and pupils. The project was carried out under a Partnering arrangement, with cfp as Architects and Cdm Coordinator.
